KATHMANDU: Delegates at the Nepali Congress’ second special convention expressed their anger against the party leadership on Monday, staging a protest outside the closed-session hall at Bhrikutimandap.

Chanting slogans such as “Tripartite talks are a betrayal,” “We don’t accept understanding,” “We don’t accept false talks,” and “Hold elections to change the leadership,” the delegates voiced strong opposition to ongoing discussions within the party.

The special convention, which began on Poush 27 at Bhrikutimandap, is being led by General Secretaries Gagan Thapa and Bishwprakash Sharma.

Despite resistance from the establishment faction, a majority of delegates are participating in the proceedings.

The election process is ongoing as the convention enters its third day.

The protesting delegates have labeled the current tripartite dialogue between the establishment, the Shekhar Koirala faction, and the special convention supporters as “deceptive” and “false.” The discussions are aimed at resolving internal party disputes and charting a way forward.
