MP Pandey criticizes ministry budget as biased & strategically weak
MP Pandey said the budget fails to address the needs of vulnerable groups such as children and the elderly.
KATHMANDU: Chief Whip of CPN (Maoist Centre) and Member of Parliament Hitraj Pandey has strongly criticized the budget allocated to the Ministry of Women, Children, and Senior Citizens, calling it unbalanced, biased, and lacking strategic vision.
Speaking during Sunday’s House of Representatives session on the Appropriation Bill, MP Pandey said the budget fails to address the needs of vulnerable groups such as children and the elderly.
He expressed dissatisfaction over the absence of programs focused on education, moral values, and skill development for children.
“The budget of the Ministry is neither balanced nor strategic,” Pandey said. “There are no programs to provide education, values, or skills to children. How can we ensure their future without these fundamentals?”
He further stated that the budget does not deliver justice to women, especially those historically marginalized. “Feudal mindsets continue to suppress women, yet the budget fails to address such deep-rooted challenges,” he noted.
Questioning the government’s commitment, Pandey argued that the ministry’s budget lacks clear policies, objectives, and effective programs. “This kind of budget cannot ensure women’s empowerment or the proper development of children,” he added.
