KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress MP Arjun Narasingh KC expressed regret over the state’s refusal to transfer Rastriya Swatantra Party Chairman Ravi Lamichhane to another prison.

Speaking at the House of Representatives meeting on Tuesday, KC said it was disappointing that the transfer was not carried out despite the court granting permission.

He raised the issue of a Human Rights Commission team’s monitoring visit to Rupandehi Prison in parliament, urging the government to seriously address the basic needs inside prisons.

KC stated, “While legal procedures must be respected, it is regrettable and incomprehensible that the transfer of the party chair and former minister was not implemented despite the court’s approval. Therefore, the government should review the conditions of all prisons across the country and take necessary measures for their improvement.”

He also called for urgent reforms in the conditions of prisons nationwide.
