KATHMANDU: CPN (Unified Socialist) lawmaker Prakash Jwala has accused Urban Development Minister Prakash Man Singh of disrespecting the legacy of the late Ganeshman Singh by misallocating a budget of nearly Rs 570 million in his name.

Speaking at Sunday’s session of the House of Representatives, MP Jwala said the budget, instead of being used for productive or employment-generating programs, has been funneled into “unproductive structures,” tarnishing Ganeshman’s name.

“Allocating Rs 570 million in the name of Ganeshman Singh for non-productive purposes does not honor him—it defames him,” Jwala stated, demanding a public apology from Minister Singh from the Parliament’s rostrum.

He further accused Minister Singh of insulting both Ganeshman Singh and Mangala Devi, respected national figures, and criticized the Urban Development Ministry for allegedly prioritizing projects for political favorites and close allies.

Jwala claimed the ministry has deviated from its defined responsibilities and is being misused to serve the interests of middlemen and loyalists, describing it as a “breeding ground for commission agents and power brokers.”

He also lambasted Minister Singh for allocating Rs 7 million in the name of the late Pushpa Lal Shrestha to organize a “cow festival” in Kathmandu, terming such acts as mockery of national leaders.

Calling out widespread irregularities, Jwala demanded immediate reform within the Urban Development Ministry.
