KATHMANDU: CPN-UML lawmaker Bhim Prasad Acharya has urged the government to expedite the construction of bridges over the Dashgija and Picharaha rivers along the route to the historic Ramdhuni Temple in Sunsari.

Speaking during zero hour in the House of Representatives on Tuesday, MP Acharya emphasized the urgent need for bridges on the route from Bhumarichowk in Ramdhuni Municipality-2, passing through Dhamora Kumyai, to the Ramdhuni Temple—a key religious and tourist destination.

He noted that a Detailed Project Report (DPR) has already been prepared for the Dashgija River bridge and called on the government to immediately initiate the contract process and move forward with construction.

He stressed that the Ministry of Finance should ensure funding and prioritize the project due to its significance as a major pilgrimage route.

Acharya also drew attention to an incomplete bridge project on the Dashgija River along the road connecting Titliwan in Ward 2 to Ward 9 Sitpur and the Ward 8 municipal office. Although the project was previously contracted out, the contractor abandoned the work midway, leading to the contract being canceled.

He called on the government to re-tender the project as soon as possible and ensure that the long-overdue construction resumes without further delay.
