KATHMANDU: The film Paran has been released in cinemas nationwide from today.

The family drama features veteran actors Nir Shah and Madan Krishna Shrestha in lead roles, portraying a touching story centered around family relationships and emotional bonds.

Director Dipak Prasad Acharya said the film reflects the emotional distance growing within families in the pursuit of material comfort. “The movie explores the bond between a father and son. In the name of building a future, people are leaving villages for cities or abroad, unknowingly taking away the happiness of their parents. Paran tells this very story,” Acharya explained.

He added that positive feedback from film professionals who attended the special premiere has encouraged the team. “The story feels very close to home—it’s something every Nepali family can relate to. I’m hopeful the audience will appreciate it and recommend it to others,” he said.

Veteran actor Nir Shah shared that his reason for joining the project was its powerful social message. “Roles like this are rarely offered.

The character’s psychology deeply resonated with me, and I immediately agreed after hearing the story. The film captures the realities of today’s Nepali society,” Shah said.

The film also stars Keki Adhikari, Madan Krishna Shrestha, Puja Chand, Mahesh Tripathi, Prabin Khatriwada, Yaman Shrestha, Buddi Tamang, and Babin Rai.

Actress Keki Adhikari plays the role of a daughter-in-law. “Paran depicts the ups and downs that arise even when everyone in a family is trying to do their best. It’s the kind of family every person dreams of having,” she shared.

Jointly produced by Shekhar Golchha and Ranjit Acharya, the film features cinematography by Shivaram Shrestha, editing by Mitra D. Gurung, and music composed by Gagan Thapa Magar.
