KATHMANDU: Minister for Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation, Deepak Khadka, has directed ministry officials and subordinate bodies to avoid delays and ensure timely service delivery.
Speaking at a meeting with ministry staff today, Minister Khadka said there have been repeated complaints about files being stalled and work being delayed. “No file should be left pending.
Ensure that all files are processed within three days to prevent inconvenience to the public,” he instructed.
Expressing concern over the lack of significant progress within subordinate institutions, the Minister stressed that achieving set goals would only be possible through a system of rewards and penalties for staff performance. “We call civil servants the permanent government, but their work should reflect that permanence. Everyone must carry out their responsibilities with integrity,” he said.
With the monsoon season approaching, Minister Khadka also instructed the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology to ensure timely dissemination of weather-related information to the public to minimize risks.
The meeting was attended by State Minister Khamba Bahadur Garbuja, Energy Secretary Suresh Acharya, Water Resources and Irrigation Secretary Sarita Dawadi, Director General of the Department of Water Resources and Irrigation Sanjeev Baral, Director General of the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology Kamalram Joshi, NEA Executive Director Hitendra Dev Shakya, Joint Secretaries of the ministry, and other officials.
The meeting also reviewed the physical and financial progress of the ministry and its subordinate bodies up to the end of Baisakh.
