KATHMANDU: The Nepalese stock market hit a third consecutive positive circuit breaker on Monday, prompting a halt in trading.

The benchmark NEPSE index surged 162 points, a 6% gain, closing at 2,875.43 points.

Total turnover for the day reached Rs 555.9 million.

Investor confidence appears to have surged following the recent House of Representatives elections, reflecting positively on the market.

Trading opened with an immediate circuit breaker, followed by a 20-minute suspension.

Upon reopening, the market triggered a second circuit breaker within a minute.

After a 40-minute pause, trading resumed but quickly hit a third circuit breaker, leading to the suspension of Monday’s session.

The sequence underscores the strong post-election optimism among investors and the market’s volatile yet bullish response.
