Speaking at the meeting of the State Affairs and Good Governance Committee of the House of Representatives on Friday, MP Pandey raised concerns regarding the situation.
KATHMANDU: The chief whip of the CPN (Maoist Centre), Hitraj Pandey, has stated that there was a serious mistake on the part of the government and security forces during the recent Tinkune protest.
Speaking at the meeting of the State Affairs and Good Governance Committee of the House of Representatives on Friday, MP Pandey raised concerns regarding the situation.
He questioned why the Tinkune area was specifically designated for the protest. Additionally, he demanded the identification of the masterminds behind the violent demonstrations.
Pandey accused the current government of focusing more on the Nepal Electricity Authority and the Governor of the Central Bank rather than maintaining good governance in the country.
He further criticized the government for merely chasing after a pre-arranged setup.
He also raised the issue of smuggling and questioned the government’s plans to address the growing public frustration.
Pandey called attention to the unresolved problems of protesting teachers, victims of usury, and cooperatives, urging the government to address these concerns.
Pandey emphasized that no protest should be underestimated and that the government must take all such movements seriously.
