KATHMANDU: Manchester United secured a crucial 1–0 victory over Everton in the Premier League on Monday night, with Benjamin Šeško scoring the decisive goal in the 71st minute.

The win lifts United into fourth place in the league standings, overtaking Chelsea in the race for Champions League qualification.

Šeško struck on the counter-attack after a move that began deep inside United’s own half.

He released the ball early, surged forward, and then finished clinically after receiving the return pass, skipping past the defence to slot home with ease.

The goal was his eighth of the season.

Under the guidance of head coach Michael Carrick, United have now won five of their last six matches, continuing an impressive run of form in the league.

The match, played at Hill Dickinson Stadium, was a low-key affair with both sides struggling to create clear-cut chances. Everton had a few promising moments but failed to convert their opportunities.

The defeat extends Everton’s poor home form, as they have now gone seven consecutive home games without a win. They currently sit ninth in the Premier League table.
