KATHMANDU: Manchester City delivered a commanding 3-0 victory over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, capitalising on Arsenal’s shock defeat to AFC Bournemouth to intensify the Premier League title race.

The win sees second-placed City close the gap to leaders Arsenal to six points, with Pep Guardiola’s side still holding a game in hand.

City struggled to assert themselves in the first half, with efforts from Rayan Cherki and Antoine Semenyo failing to trouble Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sánchez.

However, the visitors surged after the break. In the 51st minute, Cherki’s cross was met by Nico O’Reilly, who headed City into the lead. Just six minutes later, former Chelsea defender Marc Guéhi doubled the advantage, again assisted by Cherki.

City sealed the result in the 68th minute when Jérémy Doku capitalised on a mistake by Moisés Caicedo to score a superb third.

Chelsea had a goal from Marc Cucurella ruled out for offside, while Pedro Neto was denied by City goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.

The defeat marks Chelsea’s third consecutive loss, leaving them sixth on 48 points, while City move to 64 points in second place.

All eyes now turn to next week’s crucial clash at the Etihad Stadium, where City host Arsenal in a match expected to have a decisive impact on the title race.

Aston Villa Held as Nottingham Forest Edge Clear of Relegation Zone

Nottingham Forest and Aston Villa played out a 1-1 draw, a result that helps Forest move further away from the relegation zone.

Villa took the lead in the 23rd minute through an own goal by Murillo. However, Neco Williams equalised in the 38th minute with a strike from 18 yards.

Both sides had chances in the second half, but neither could find a winner, with Ollie Watkins missing a late opportunity for Villa.

The result denies Villa the chance to climb into third place. They remain on 55 points from 32 matches, level with Manchester United, who have a game in hand. Forest sit 16th with 33 points.

Tottenham’s Struggles Continue Under De Zerbi

Tottenham Hotspur remain mired in crisis, suffering a 1-0 defeat to Sunderland despite the appointment of new manager Roberto De Zerbi.

The only goal of the match came in the 61st minute, scored by Nordi Mukiele.

The loss extends Tottenham’s winless run to 14 league matches, leaving them 18th with 30 points after 32 games, firmly in the relegation zone. Sunderland, meanwhile, climb to 10th with 46 points.

Crystal Palace Fight Back to Beat Newcastle

Crystal Palace came from behind to secure a dramatic 2-1 win over Newcastle United.

Newcastle had taken the lead in the first half through William Osula. But substitute Jean-Philippe Mateta equalised in the 80th minute before converting a stoppage-time penalty to seal victory.

Both sides now sit on 42 points, with Palace in 13th place and Newcastle just behind in 14th.
