KATHMANDU: Manchester City booked their place in the League Cup semifinals with a comfortable 2–0 victory over Brentford, thanks to goals from Rayan Cherki and Savinho.

City took the lead in the 32nd minute when Cherki produced a brilliant solo effort, beating his marker near the edge of the box before finding the net.

Brentford pushed for an equaliser in the second half, but goalkeeper James Trafford stood firm, denying efforts from Kristoffer Ajer and Michael Kayode.

The win was sealed in the 67th minute as Savinho’s shot took a deflection off Ajer and looped into the goal, marking the winger’s second goal of the season.

Newcastle United also advanced to the last four after a dramatic 2–1 win over Fulham, sealed by a late header from Lewis Miley in the second minute of injury time.

Newcastle went ahead early through Yoane Wissa in the 10th minute, but Fulham responded quickly as Sasa Lukic struck the equaliser six minutes later.
