Manchester City, Chelsea and Arsenal reach FA Cup quarter-finals

KATHMANDU: Manchester City secured a place in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup after a 3–1 comeback victory over Newcastle United at St James’ Park.

City equalised six minutes before halftime. A cross from Jérémy Doku was converted easily by Savinho.
Just two minutes into the second half, City turned the game around. After a cut-back from Matheus Nunes deflected slightly off Aaron Ramsdale, Omar Marmoush struck from inside the box to give the visitors the lead.
Marmoush then sealed the victory with a superb long-range effort in the 65th minute, sending the seven-time champions into the last eight.
Chelsea Advance After Extra-Time Drama
Chelsea FC also booked their quarter-final berth after defeating Wrexham AFC 4–2 following extra time.
Wrexham opened the scoring in the 17th minute through Sam Smith. Chelsea equalised just before halftime when a shot from Alejandro Garnacho deflected off goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo and went into the net.
Callum Doyle restored Wrexham’s lead in the 78th minute, but four minutes later Josh Acheampong equalised for Chelsea. Wrexham were reduced to ten men in injury time after George Dobson received a red card.
In extra time, goals from Garnacho and João Pedro secured Chelsea’s 4–2 victory.
Arsenal Also Through
Arsenal FC progressed to the FA Cup quarter-finals with a 2–1 win over Mansfield Town at One Call Stadium.
Noni Madueke gave Arsenal the lead in the 41st minute. Mansfield equalised early in the second half when Will Evans beat the defender and found the net.
Substitute Eberechi Eze scored the decisive goal in the 66th minute to send Arsenal into the last eight.
Despite further chances for Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Jesus, Arsenal could not add to their tally.
