KATHMANDU: Manchester City defeated Arsenal 2–0 to lift the EFL Cup Final title at Wembley Stadium on Sunday.

City delivered a dominant second-half performance to shatter Arsenal’s hopes of securing a four-title season.

Rising star Nico O’Reilly scored both goals to seal the victory.

The first half remained largely balanced, with neither side able to break the deadlock.

However, City took control after the restart.

In the 60th minute, a costly error from Arsenal goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga allowed O’Reilly to head home the opener.

Just four minutes later, O’Reilly struck again with another header, doubling City’s lead and putting the game beyond Arsenal’s reach.

With this triumph, City manager Pep Guardiola secured his fifth League Cup title, further cementing his legacy.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta faced criticism for his team selection, opting for Kepa over first-choice goalkeeper David Raya — a decision that proved costly.

Despite a late push, Arsenal failed to mount a comeback, missing out on their first major trophy since 2020.
