KATHMANDU: Mahalaxmi Bikas Bank successfully conducted a series of nationwide financial literacy and awareness programs to mark Global Money Week 2026.

The week-long initiative, held from Chaitra 2 to 8 (March 16-22), focused on reaching underbanked and financially excluded segments of society through the bank’s branches and regional offices across Nepal.

Under this campaign, branches in Durbar Marg, Hetauda, Itahari, Bhairahawa, Vijaypur, Pokhara, Birgunj, Dhangadhi, Suryapura, Dadeldhura, Lahan, Bichbazar, Mangalsen, and Chipledhunga, among others, organized programs aimed at enhancing financial literacy among students and youth.

The programs emphasized developing financial knowledge, skills, and attitudes to foster responsible financial behavior.

The nationwide campaign, guided by the theme “Smart Money Talks”, attracted participation from over 1,000 individuals.

Sessions covered key topics including savings, loans, investments, clean notes, digital financial services, remittance, grievance redressal, financial service providers, capital markets, risk management, insurance, financial fraud, and financial discipline.

Mahalaxmi Development Bank also actively participated in financial literacy rallies organized by the Nepal Rastra Bank and other institutions, contributing to broader public awareness.

As part of the campaign, the bank’s Nepalgunj branch distributed educational materials to students at Shree Yuddha Sanskrit Secondary School, Nepalgunj, Banke.

Additionally, the bank leveraged its official social media platforms to share awareness content and educational videos, aiming to instill the importance of financial education among teenagers and young adults.

Following its motto, “Strong Bank, Successful Collaboration”, Mahalaxmi Development Bank has been delivering quality financial services to Nepali households for over 31 years, operating 103 branches nationwide and serving more than 850,000 customers.
