Madhesh lawmaker Ansari quits Maoist Centre
In his resignation letter, Ansari quoted revolutionary slogans written in red ink and addressed Pushpa Kamal Dahal as the “former chair” of the Maoist Centre.
KATHMANDU: Rahbar Ansari, a Madhesh Provincial Assembly member elected from the CPN (Maoist Centre), announced his resignation from the party on Thursday.
In his resignation letter, Ansari quoted revolutionary slogans written in red ink and addressed Pushpa Kamal Dahal as the “former chair” of the Maoist Centre.
He took this step just months after Dahal, along with Madhav Kumar Nepal and others, decided to change the party’s name.
Ansari accused Dahal of deviating from the core principles and original spirit of the Maoist movement. He said the leadership had strayed from its ideological foundations.
Notably, he addressed copies of his resignation letter to the families of martyrs of the People’s War, those who, in the name of change, ultimately seek only power and privilege, opportunists, and what he called the “real martyrs.”
Ansari had previously expressed dissatisfaction with internal party disputes and the leadership’s working style.
