KATHMANDU: The Madhesh Province government has issued a formal directive to curb unnecessary public expenditures, emphasizing fiscal discipline and effective use of limited resources.
The Ministry of Finance of Madhesh Province has instructed all ministries, directorates, and affiliated offices and projects to control non-essential spending in the current fiscal year 2082/83.
The directive specifically targets purchases of vehicles, furniture, office decorations, expensive goods, unnecessary workshops, official tours, and hospitality expenses.
The circular underscores the need to prevent budget misuse, ensure good governance, and allocate resources efficiently.
It stresses that essential service delivery, ongoing development projects, and priority programs should not be affected by these measures.
Deputy Secretary of the Ministry, Jaykumar Raut, urged offices to minimize vehicle use, reduce fuel consumption, cut unnecessary expenses, and adopt frugality in maintenance and operational costs.
The Ministry also warned that compliance with the spending restrictions will be closely monitored, and violators will face action under prevailing laws.
