Madhesh CM Singh resigns, slams party Chief Raut
Singh not only submitted his resignation but also leveled symbolic criticisms against his party, Janamat, and party president Dr. Chandrakant Raut.
KATHMANDU: Madhesh Province Chief Minister Satish Kumar Singh announced his resignation from the provincial assembly on Tuesday, citing the need to “clear the path” as his reason.
Speaking directly from the assembly rostrum, Singh not only submitted his resignation but also leveled symbolic criticisms against his party, Janamat, and party president Dr. Chandrakant Raut.
Singh resigned on the final day to face a confidence vote, avoiding the assembly’s formal voting process. Following his announcement, Speaker Ramchandra Mandal declared the provincial assembly session suspended until further notice, stating there was no need to divide the house for a vote.
In his written statement, Singh criticized Dr. Raut and Janamat Party, alleging conspiracies against him since he became chief minister and accusing the leadership of promoting self-aggrandizement over democracy.
Singh also hinted that he could emerge as Dr. Raut’s electoral competitor in the region where both had previously won provincial seats.
