KATHMANDU: Olympique Lyonnais pulled off a stunning 2–1 victory over league leaders Paris Saint-Germain on Sunday, strengthening their push for a UEFA Champions League spot.
Lyon made a dream start, taking the lead in just the sixth minute as Endrick finished clinically from a precise pass by Afonso Moreira.
The home side doubled their advantage in the 18th minute, with Moreira finding the net himself to make it 2–0.
PSG struggled to respond in the first half. Gonçalo Ramos missed a golden opportunity from the penalty spot, denied by a brilliant save from goalkeeper Dominik Greif.
After the break, PSG increased the pressure. Ousmane Dembélé came close with a powerful strike that rattled the crossbar.
The visitors eventually pulled one back late in the game through Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, but Lyon held firm to secure a crucial win.
Endrick’s standout performance was key for Lyon. The young forward, on loan from Real Madrid, continues to impress this season.
Despite the defeat, PSG remain top of Ligue 1, though their lead has narrowed to just one point over second-placed RC Lens.
