KATHMANDU: Lumbini Lions began their Nepal Premier League (NPL) campaign with an impressive victory, defeating Chitwan Rhinos by six wickets in Kathmandu.

Chasing a target of 143, Lumbini reached 144/4 in 18.3 overs.

Gulbadin Naib guided the innings with an unbeaten 44, while captain Rohit Kumar Paudel added a solid 39.

For Chitwan, Rijan Dhakal took two wickets and Sohail Tanvir claimed one.

Earlier, after losing the toss at the TU International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur, Chitwan Rhinos posted 142/7 in their 20 overs.

Ravi Bopara top-scored with a fluent 66. Captain Kushal Malla contributed 21, while Dev Khanal made 14, Deepak Bohara 10, Saif Zaib 15, and Arjun Saud remained unbeaten on 15.

In Lumbini’s bowling attack, Ruben Trumpelmann picked up three wickets, while Abhishek Gautam and Gulbadin Naib took two wickets each.
