Liverpool end losing streak with 2–0 win over Fulham

KATHMANDU: Liverpool FC returned to winning ways in the Premier League with a composed 2–0 victory over Fulham FC at Anfield, bringing an end to a difficult run of defeats.
In a match charged with emotion following recent announcements, Mohamed Salah — who recently revealed he will leave the club at the end of the season — played a key role, finding the net alongside teenage sensation Rio Ngumoha.
Liverpool took control in the 36th minute when 17-year-old Ngumoha produced a moment of brilliance, gliding past Timothy Castagne before unleashing an unstoppable strike beyond Bernd Leno. Just four minutes later, Salah doubled the lead, calmly finishing from a well-worked assist by Cody Gakpo.
Fulham responded with intent after the break, but were denied by fine margins. Saša Lukić saw his goal ruled out for offside, while Rodrigo Muniz and Emile Smith Rowe both missed promising chances.
The win was a much-needed response for Liverpool, who had suffered recent defeats to Brighton & Hove Albion, Manchester City, and Paris Saint-Germain.
With the victory, Liverpool move up to fifth place on 52 points, extending their lead over Chelsea FC to four points ahead of Chelsea’s clash with Manchester City.
Salah also reached another milestone, taking his Anfield tally to 108 Premier League goals — the second-highest at a single venue, behind Thierry Henry, who scored 114 at Highbury.
Meanwhile, Ngumoha made history as Liverpool’s youngest-ever Premier League scorer at Anfield, breaking the previous record held by Raheem Sterling — a moment that signals a bright future amid a period of transition at the club.
