KATHMANDU: Leeds United delivered a sensational performance to secure a crucial 2–1 victory over Manchester United at Old Trafford, significantly strengthening their chances of avoiding relegation in the Premier League.

The hero of the night was Noah Okafor, who struck twice in the first half to give Leeds a commanding lead.

He opened the scoring in the 5th minute, capitalizing on a defensive error from Leny Yoro, before doubling the advantage in the 29th minute with a outstanding long-range volley.

Manchester United’s hopes suffered a major setback early in the second half when Lisandro Martínez was sent off following a VAR review for pulling Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s hair, reducing the hosts to 10 men.

Despite the disadvantage, United responded through Casemiro, who headed home in the 69th minute from a cross by Bruno Fernandes to make it 2–1 and set up a tense finish. Casemiro nearly equalized late on, but Calvert-Lewin made a crucial goal-line clearance to deny him.

Leeds held firm under pressure to claim a historic victory — their first league win over Manchester United since September 2002 and their first triumph at Old Trafford since 1981, ending an 18-match winless run at the venue.

The result lifts Leeds six points clear of the relegation zone, with 42 points placing them 15th in the table.

Meanwhile, Manchester United, who remain on 55 points from 32 matches, missed a key opportunity to strengthen their grip on third place.
