‘Kumari’ sold for overseas release across Australia, North America & Middle East

KATHMANDU: Nepal’s highly anticipated romantic drama ‘Kumari’ is set to hit theaters nationwide on Magh 23 (Jan 6) and has already secured overseas screening rights in multiple countries.

According to producer Mahendra Adhikari, the film will be released by Ascast Nepal and Three KG Events in Australia, Atreya Production and Koseli Colorado in the USA, Mero Events in Canada, and NepFilm in Middle Eastern countries.

Following the positive response to its trailer, there is growing international demand for the film.

The trailer was unveiled in Kathmandu’s Bhrikutimandap in front of over 10,000 spectators, receiving widespread acclaim both domestically and internationally.

Within a short period, it also became a trending video on YouTube, amassing around 800,000 views.

Director Dinesh Raut expressed that the overwhelming audience turnout at the trailer launch fulfilled a long-held dream, and he is confident the excitement will carry through to cinemas.

The film marks the debut of Abhishek Khadka and Aakriti Rajbhandari in lead roles.

They are joined by Ghanshyam Joshi, Sunita Shrestha, Akanksha Karki, Madhu Khadka, Sanam Shrestha, Saku Shah, Saroj Lamichhane, and Mansha Sharma, among others.

Produced under the Vinish Entertainment banner, the story and screenplay are by Bikash Subedi, cinematography by Susan Prajapati, with editing and color grading by Suprim Parajuli, and sound design by Uttam Neupane.

Poster and publicity designs are by Royal Bhimsen, while Kedar Bhusal serves as executive producer.

The film’s songs—‘Doko Bunne,’ ‘Kata Chhau Mero Phool,’ and ‘Timi Bina’—have already generated buzz. In particular, ‘Doko Bunne’ has surpassed 6 million views on YouTube.

All songs feature vocals by Kehar Singh Limbu, with music composed by Suman Tamang and lyrics by Sagar Lamichhane Magar and Suman Tamang.

After establishing a strong reputation in social-themed films, director Dinesh Raut returns to the romance genre with ‘Kumari,’ aiming to captivate audiences both in Nepal and abroad.
