KATHMANDU: Energy Minister Kulman Ghising has intensified his political engagement following his resignation

The day after stepping down, Ghising met with Rabi Lamichhane, President of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), at Lamichhane’s residence for a one-on-one discussion.

According to sources, the talks primarily focused on the coordination process between RSP and the Ujyalo Nepal Party. Ghising emphasized that any unification process must be conducted respectfully.

From the Ujyalo Nepal Party’s side, the discussion included fair representation in the central committee, amendments to the proportional candidate list, and agreement on direct election candidacy packages.

Although a memorandum of understanding on party unification has been signed, several issues between RSP and Ujyalo Nepal remain unresolved.

While Balen Shah has already nominated 26 central committee members, adjustments from Ujyalo Nepal’s side are still pending, with disputes even over the number of members to be allocated.

Ujyalo Nepal has also insisted on prioritizing some of its members in the proportional representation list.

Although the agreement mentions Ghising as vice-chairman, he has yet to attend any RSP meetings, reportedly refusing to participate until the party coordination is fully settled.

Since resigning from the ministerial post, Ghising has actively stepped up political interactions, including holding internal discussions with party leaders at his residence just yesterday.
