Krishna wins gold at Asian Wildwater Canoeing Championship

KATHMANDU: Nepalese paddler Krishna Khadka clinched the gold medal at the Asian Wildwater Canoeing Championship, held from Dec 16 to 22 in Yunnan Province, China, organized by the Chinese Canoe Association.

Competing in the ‘Sprint Veney’ event on the Nujiang River, Khadka outperformed 148 athletes from 18 countries, including host nation China, securing Nepal’s top podium finish.

Another Nepalese paddler, Ranjan Kandel, also shone at the event, winning the bronze medal.

Both athletes from Nepal managed to bring home medals from the championship.

Organizers highlighted that the competition provided Asian athletes with an international platform to exchange experience and aimed to promote the development of adventure water sports in the region.
