Koshi Province govt makes official naming, language, and policy decisions
The decision was made during a Cabinet meeting held on Friday, aimed at bringing clarity and consistency to the province’s identity in official use.
KATHMANDU: The Koshi Province Government has officially decided to standardize its name across all official documents, correspondence, and communications.
From now on, the format “Koshi Province Government, Biratnagar, Nepal” will be used in place of the earlier style “Provincial Government, Koshi Province, Biratnagar.”
The decision was made during a Cabinet meeting held on Friday, aimed at bringing clarity and consistency to the province’s identity in official use.
Speaking on behalf of the government, Provincial Spokesperson and Minister for Internal Affairs and Law, Rewatiraman Bhandari, confirmed that the change will be implemented mandatorily across all provincial institutions.
In the same meeting, the Cabinet also approved the regularization of temporary positions held by contractual employees in provincial government services. This move is expected to provide clarity and security to those who have been working under temporary contracts for extended periods.
Furthermore, the government has decided to introduce a bill related to the use of languages in official provincial affairs. Once passed, the bill will pave the way for Limbu and Maithili languages to be recognized as official working languages within the province. Minister Bhandari emphasized that this step is a significant move toward institutionalizing the multilingual identity of Koshi Province.
In addition to language-related developments, the Cabinet also decided to:
- Present a revised Provincial Statistics Management Bill to the Provincial Assembly, following amendments by the Provincial Affairs Committee.
- Approve the Provincial Health Policy 2082, a strategic step aimed at strengthening the region’s healthcare system.
- Forward a new bill related to the operation of educational counseling and language classes to the Provincial Affairs Committee for further discussion.
