KATHMANDU: Lawmakers aligned with Nepali Congress leader Dr. Shekhar Koirala have expressed dissatisfaction over attempts to remove Deputy Speaker Indira Ranamagar.

As ruling parties Nepali Congress and UML reportedly collect signatures to table a proposal against the Deputy Speaker, the Koirala faction has raised objections.

Dr. Koirala has maintained a firm stance against signing blank documents without a clear reason. “So far, I have not received any information and have not signed. I understand Shekhar brother has not signed either,” one lawmaker said.

Leaders from the Koirala faction also complained that there has been no formal discussion within the party regarding the removal of the Deputy Speaker. “We have only heard rumors outside; no decision or discussion has taken place within the party,” the lawmaker added.

Dr. Koirala has recently voiced open dissatisfaction with both government functioning and party leadership, advocating for legality, proper procedure, and transparency.

Koirala-aligned lawmakers argue that collecting signatures for such a serious matter without formal notification is inappropriate.
