Koirala advocates 40% youth representation in politics
Koirala highlighted that his efforts for youth representation began well before the Gen Z movement and extended even within party structures.
KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress leader Dr. Shekhar Koirala has long advocated for addressing the demands and concerns of youth, emphasizing their central role in governance and policymaking.
Speaking with young people in Biratnagar, Koirala highlighted that his efforts for youth representation began well before the Gen Z movement and extended even within party structures.

“I have consistently worked to ensure youth representation in state structures and policy-making. I proposed that youth representation should be structured in three clusters: 20% at the central level, 30% at the provincial level, and 40% at the local level. Only then can we retain the energy and talent of our young generation in this country,” Koirala said.
He reaffirmed his commitment to good governance, stating that he is actively engaged in the “Campaign for Clean Politics” initiative.
Focusing on youth empowerment, Koirala also played a key role in elevating young leaders during the Nepali Congress’s 14th General Convention. “I have worked to bring youth into leadership to instill hope among the people and drive development,” he added.
