‘Kathghara’ to air from Wednesday
‘Kathghara’ is not positioned as a conventional interview show.
KATHMANDU: Amid a growing demand for accountability, transparency, and clear public discourse in Nepali society, a new television program titled ‘Kathghara’ has officially announced its launch through a formal press conference held in Kathmandu.
The event witnessed a strong presence of media representatives, broadcast partners, sponsoring organizations, and distinguished guests.
‘Kathghara’ is not positioned as a conventional interview show.
Instead, it has been conceptualized as a platform of questions, answers, and public accountability, aimed at holding individuals in power, public office, and influential positions answerable to the people.
The organizers emphasized that the program seeks to strengthen democratic dialogue, particularly at a time when upcoming elections and the rising voices of young people—especially Gen Z—are intensifying demands for transparent and responsible governance.
Welcoming the attendees, Producer Thaman Kumar Bhandari elaborated on the program’s vision, objectives, and expectations. He underlined that ‘Kathghara’ is designed to respond to the public’s growing insistence on meaningful dialogue and institutional accountability.
Speaking at the conference, Om Agrawal, Managing Director of digital partner OSR Digital, highlighted the show’s commitment to responsible journalism and its potential to introduce a new culture of constructive public debate in Nepal.
The press meet also formally announced the program’s broadcast details. ‘Kathghara’ will be aired on Himalaya Television HD and OSR Reality, starting this Wednesday, with a total of 18 episodes. The show will be broadcast every Wednesday at exactly 8:00 PM.
During the event, a formal agreement was exchanged between the producers and the broadcast partners. Producer Bhandari described the collaboration with Himalaya Television and OSR Digital as a crucial foundation for ensuring the program’s credibility, reach, and impact.
The program has received support from several reputed institutions that believe in meaningful content and responsible media.
Kajaria Tiles has joined as the title sponsor, while Vatsalya Natural IVF is associated as an “In Association With” partner. Everest Bank serves as the banking partner, Nepal Life Insurance as the insurance partner, and the show is powered by the Malko App. Additional support comes from Ten Plastic Pipe, Tank and Fittings as co-sponsors.
Program Director Aman Pratap Adhikari shared insights into the show’s concept, structure, and the direction of its questioning approach.
