KATHMANDU: Karnali Province Chief Minister Yamlal Kandel has called for increased investment in adventure tourism in Karnali, citing the region’s vast potential for tourism development.
Speaking during a visit to the newly constructed Skywalk at Charles Tower in Bhedetar, Chief Minister Kandel urged Wonders Amusement Parks & Attractions Pvt. Ltd., the construction company behind the Skywalk, to consider similar projects in Karnali Province.
“I am delighted to experience the Skywalk here today. It was a thrilling and joyful experience,” he said. “I sincerely invite the company to invest in Karnali’s tourism infrastructure. The provincial government is ready to fully facilitate such initiatives.”
Constructed at a cost of Rs 200 million, the Skywalk is located at the junction of Sangurigadhi Rural Municipality-4 in Dhankuta and Ward-6 of Dharan Sub-Metropolitan City.
Since its inauguration, the attraction has significantly boosted local tourism, according to Sunil Bhusal, Director of Skywalk Bhedetar.
From the glass-floored walkway, visitors can enjoy panoramic views of the Bhedetar Bazaar, the Dharan-Itahari stretch, Char Koshe Jungle, the Sanopathebhara Temple, and the surrounding Sangurigadhi region. Entry costs Rs 500 per person.
Built with 33 mm thick glass, the project has created employment for approximately 100 people, both directly and indirectly. The site now draws not only domestic visitors but also tourists from India and Bangladesh.
The visit was also attended by senior CPN-UML leaders, including Head of the Publicity Department Rajendra Gautam, leaders Bishal Bhattarai and Yagyaraj Sunuwar, and Koshi Provincial Assembly member Niran Rai.
