Jyoti Bikas Bank provides baby warmers in remote health posts

KATHMANDU: Jyoti Bikas Bank, recognizing the importance of life-saving medical equipment in rural areas, has provided baby warmers to health posts across various districts in Koshi Province.

These machines are designed to maintain proper body temperature in newborns and protect them from hypothermia.

Aiming to ensure access to safe maternity services even in remote areas, the bank has been making such essential health equipment available in locations without its branches.

This initiative is part of the bank’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts. To date, the bank has installed 70 baby warmer machines nationwide.

Under this initiative, baby warmers were recently installed at Sisuwakhola Health Post in Silichong Rural Municipality, Ward No. 12, and Num Primary Health Center in Makalu Rural Municipality, Ward No. 5, in Sankhuwasabha district.

Additionally, installations were carried out at Pujan Sewa Municipal Hospital in Jalpa, Ward No. 12, Khotang district, and Ektin Health Post in Phalelung Rural Municipality, Ward No. 2, Panchthar district. The handover ceremonies were attended by officials from the respective health posts and local dignitaries.

During the events, doctors, nurses, and other health staff received specialized training from experts on operating the baby warmers.

Believing firmly that a healthy workforce is the backbone of nation-building, Jyoti Bikas Bank’s proactive initiative has clearly contributed to preventing premature deaths and safeguarding the lives of newborns.

Through the previous distribution of 66 baby warmer machines to hospitals, health posts, and birthing centers across the country, the bank has provided this life-saving facility to more than 2,442 Nepali newborns annually.

So far, over 12,210 newborns have directly benefited from this service. Among banks and financial institutions in Nepal, Jyoti Bikas Bank has taken a leading role in this critical life-saving sector, consistently promoting positive social initiatives.

The bank allocates 50% more from its own profits to social initiatives compared to other banks and financial institutions in Nepal, demonstrating a strong commitment to the welfare of citizens.

Upholding institutional governance, Jyoti Bikas Bank remains dedicated to serving the interests of its customers, employees, regulators, shareholders, and other stakeholders. In the previous fiscal year, the bank contributed Rs 41 crore in taxes, further fulfilling its national responsibilities.

Currently, Jyoti Bikas Bank operates 118 branch offices, 3 extended counters, and 75 ATMs to provide comprehensive banking services across the country.
