Jhankri elected UML central committee member
Jhankri secured a decisive victory in the open category, garnering 1,911 votes.
KATHMANDU: Ram Kumari Jhankri, who returned to the CPN-UML from the CPN (Unified Socialist) on the eve of the party’s 11th National Convention, has been elected as a central committee member.
Jhankri secured a decisive victory in the open category, garnering 1,911 votes.
Of the 2,263 eligible voters at the convention, 2,227 cast their ballots, reflecting strong participation in the leadership election.
Jhankri had rejoined the UML only a few months ago through the party’s “Back to Home” campaign. She was previously active in the UML but had sided with the Madhav Kumar Nepal faction during the party split, later expressing dissatisfaction and returning to her former party.
Her election with a significant vote margin is being viewed as a positive signal for leaders who have recently returned to the UML.
The convention also saw KP Sharma Oli re-elected as party chair by a large margin, consolidating his leadership within the party.
