‘Jaari 2′ thrills Eastern Nepal, director & lead meet fans

KATHMANDU: The film ‘Jaari 2: Song of Chyabrung’, released last Friday, is making a strong impression at the box office across Nepal, with particularly enthusiastic reception in the eastern regions.

Based on the stories of the Limbu community, the film’s success prompted director Upendra Subba and lead actress Miruna Magar to embark on a fan interaction tour in eastern Nepal.

On Monday, the team met audiences in Damak and Birtamode, Jhapa, and today (Tuesday) they are visiting theaters in Dharan and Itahari, Sunsari.

From today, the film is also being screened in a “Director’s Cut” version, which features 14 minutes of additional footage.

Director Subba expressed that the warm reception from eastern audiences motivates the team to deliver even better films in the future.

Lead actress Miruna Magar said the new version has heightened excitement among audiences. “Yesterday, we met fans in Damak and Birtamode. Today, we’re visiting Dharan and Itahari. Dharan is my hometown, so I’m especially excited to interact with the audience here,” she shared.

The film, written and directed by Upendra Subba, is produced by Rambabu Gurung, Madhu Mijar, and Jeevan Gurung under the banners of Bansuri Films and Kabaddi Films.

It features Dayahang Rai, Miruna Magar, and Bijay Baral in leading roles, alongside a talented supporting cast including Buddhi Tamang, Reecha Sharma, Pushkar Gurung, Prem Subba, Maotse Gurung, Manhang Lawati, Bishnu Moktan, Kamalmani Nepal, Anil Subba, Rekha Limbu, Bedna Rai, and Sirjana Ninglekh.

The film is considered one of the year’s top-performing releases, combining cultural storytelling with engaging performances that resonate strongly with Nepali audiences.
