KATHMANDU: The Independent Power Producers’ Association, Nepal (IPPAN) has expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and injuries sustained by young protesters under 28 years old (Gen Z) during recent peaceful demonstrations.

The association has called on the government to address the alarming situation arising from these events.

As protests continue in various locations today, IPPAN has urged authorities to take immediate measures to prevent further harm to demonstrators amid challenging circumstances.

IPPAN Chair Ganesh Karki emphasized that the protesters’ legitimate demands—such as ending corruption, ensuring accountability, and safeguarding citizens’ freedoms—must be properly addressed by the government.

He further appealed to the authorities to conduct a thorough investigation into the incidents, provide compensation to the families of the deceased, and offer free medical treatment to the injured.

Wishing for the speedy recovery of the wounded, IPPAN has also called on all energy entrepreneurs to extend financial and material support for their treatment.

IPPAN strongly condemned the use of unnecessary force in controlling peaceful protests, stating that such actions contradict democratic values and the Constitution.
