Indian LPG carriers safely cross strait of Hormuz amid rising US–Israel–Iran tensions
According to Jaiswal, the two ships are transporting more than 93,000 metric tons of LPG in total.
KATHMANDU: Two Indian ships carrying liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) have successfully crossed the Strait of Hormuz despite escalating tensions involving the United States, Israel and Iran.
India’s Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal confirmed on Saturday that the vessels Shivalik and Nanda Devi are now heading toward Indian ports.
According to Jaiswal, the two ships are transporting more than 93,000 metric tons of LPG in total.
He added that several other Indian vessels in the Gulf region have been placed on standby as a precaution.
India is also maintaining continuous coordination with relevant countries to ensure its energy security, the spokesperson said.
The development comes shortly after a Thai vessel carrying fuel to India was attacked while en route, raising concerns over the safety of shipping routes in the region.
