India provides vehicles, horses, and search dogs to Nepal Army

KATHMANDU: Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri during his two-day visit to Nepal, handed over vehicles, horses, and specially trained dogs to the Nepal Army, officials said.

The ceremony took place today at the Army Headquarters’ Jangi Adda.

Nepal Army received six vehicles, five horses, and two dogs trained for post-disaster search and investigation operations.

Earlier, Army Chief General Ashok Raj Sigdel held a courtesy meeting with Foreign Secretary Misri, where both sides discussed cooperation, bilateral relations, and mutual interests, according to the Directorate of Public Relations and Information of the Nepal Army.

The ties between Nepal and India have remained close not only at the political level but also at military and public levels.

Both countries follow a unique tradition of honoring each other’s army chiefs with the title of Honorary Chief of Army Staff.

Over the years, large-scale joint training and military programs have been conducted regularly.

Sharing language, religion, and culture, along with an open border and longstanding friendship, has strengthened people-to-people relations between the two nations.

The handover ceremony was attended by Indian Ambassador to Nepal Naveen Srivastava and senior officials of the Nepal Army.
