India pledges support for Nepal’s upcoming parliamentary elections
Munu Mahawar, responsible for North India affairs at the Indian Ministry of External Affairs, arrived in Kathmandu on Sunday as part of his Nepal visit.
KATHMANDU: India has expressed its commitment to assisting Nepal in successfully conducting the upcoming House of Representatives elections.
During a courtesy meeting with Nepal’s Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal, Munu Mahawar, Additional Secretary of the Indian Ministry of External Affairs, pledged support in providing necessary resources and security arrangements for the elections.
Munu Mahawar, responsible for North India affairs at the Indian Ministry of External Affairs, arrived in Kathmandu on Sunday as part of his Nepal visit.
The meeting also covered India’s assistance in post-earthquake reconstruction in Jajarkot, as well as the restoration and management of structures damaged by disasters, according to the Home Minister’s private secretariat.
Mahawar also extended an invitation to Minister Aryal to visit India at an appropriate time.
Meanwhile, Minister Aryal urged India to expedite the construction of the dry port at Dodhara Chandani in Kanchanpur.
He also emphasized the need to strengthen bilateral border security cooperation, enhance capacity to prevent cross-border crimes, smuggling, illegal trafficking, and improve information sharing between the two countries’ security agencies.
