KATHMANDU: Illegal commercial structures built on land owned by Amar Singh Secondary School in Ward No. 12 of Pokhara Metropolitan City have been fully removed after nearly three decades of encroachment.

A total of 53 temporary business sheds constructed on school property were completely vacated following a long-standing dispute between the school administration and local business operators.

The school had repeatedly issued notices urging the occupants to clear the land, but the warnings were initially ignored, leading to legal action.

During the dispute, the business operators filed a case in court. However, the court ruled in favor of the school, affirming its ownership over the land. Following the verdict, the school administration issued another 15-day eviction notice.

As the deadline approached, discussions between Pokhara Metropolitan City officials and the business operators resulted in a final agreement, allowing time until the 4th of the month for clearance.

In line with the agreement, the operators safely relocated their goods and vacated the structures. With the removal of the sheds, the land has now been fully restored to the school’s control and can be used for educational purposes and future development.
