Ila Sharma passes away; snakebite kills woman
KATHMANDU: Former Election Commissioner Ila Sharma passed away Saturday evening due to a heart attack at Norvic International Hospital, Kathmandu.
She was a respected public figure known for her legal expertise and leadership in drafting key electoral laws and directives in Nepal.
Until recently, Sharma served as a director at Citizens Bank International.
Her legacy includes leading the high-level legal drafting and political relations committee responsible for formulating significant election-related frameworks.
She is survived by her two daughters. Her final rites will be performed today, as confirmed by family sources.
In a separate incident, a 28-year-old woman, Kamala Aauji, died in Kanchanpur after being bitten by a venomous snake.

The incident occurred around 12:30 AM Saturday while she was sleeping in her home at Krishnapur Municipality-1, Nigali.
Despite being rushed to Seti Provincial Hospital in Dhangadhi, she succumbed to the bite during treatment.
According to Inspector Rajesh Basnet of the Jhalari Area Police Office, Kamala’s condition was critical upon arrival at the hospital.
