“I am innocent, I have full faith in the law” – Sandeep Lamichhane

KATHMANDU: Sandeep Lamichhane, a cricket player in the West Indies for the Caribbean Premier League (CPL), is returning home after being accused of rape. He announced his intention to return to his home country via social media.

He stated that he is innocent of the rape charges and that he believes in Nepali law. I am innocent, and I have complete faith in Nepal’s legal system. “I have decided to leave CPL and will return to my country in a few days,” he said, adding, “I am ready to face the baseless allegations.” Everyone involved will be thoroughly investigated, and I believe the law will be equal for everyone.

The Nepal Cricket Association (CAN) performance committee suspended Sandeep from the national cricket team on Thursday.

According to the complaint filed with the Metropolitan Police Circle Gaushala, Sandeep, who has a permanent home in Syangja Aruchaur and currently resides in Budhanilkantha, Kathmandu, took the girl around to various places in Kathmandu and Bhaktapur on August 21 and brought her to a hotel in Kathmandu on the same day and forcibly raped her.
