High-level technical committee forms to study Bajura–Humla border dispute
The committee has been tasked with conducting a detailed technical study of the disputed boundary and submitting its findings to the government.
KATHMANDU: The government has formed a technical committee to study and submit a report on the border issue between Bajura and Humla districts following recent tensions and clashes between locals.
A meeting chaired by Minister for Land Management, Cooperatives, Federal Affairs and General Administration Pratibha Rawal held at Singha Durbar on May 24 decided to establish the panel under the coordination of Sushil Dangol, Deputy Director General of the Survey Department.
The committee has been tasked with conducting a detailed technical study of the disputed boundary and submitting its findings to the government.
It will include representatives from the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, and the Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives, Federal Affairs and General Administration.
Each member will also be nominated from the Chief Ministers’ offices of both Karnali Province and Sudurpashchim Province.
The Survey Department’s Director will serve as the member-secretary of the committee.
The decision comes after recent clashes erupted between residents of the two districts over the disputed border area, raising concerns over local security and administrative clarity.
