KATHMANDU: Senior actor Hari Bansha Acharya has openly expressed his support for the Gen Z youth who have taken to the streets against the country’s prevailing mismanagement.

He emphasized that senior leaders should now take responsibility and gradually hand over leadership to the younger generation.

Sharing a striking example of the nation’s ongoing dysfunction, Acharya posted on Facebook a photo of the road in front of his house, which crumbled just days after being newly paved.

He highlighted that this incident is only a small illustration of broader governance issues.

“Gen Z is not protesting against the system itself; they are questioning the work ethic of politicians and officials who run it,” Acharya wrote. “The road beside my house collapsed shortly after being paved. Every day I walked that road and wondered why it deteriorated so quickly—but I only thought about it. Today’s youth, however, don’t just think—they ask questions: Why did this publicly-funded road fail? How did it happen? Who is responsible?”

Acharya stressed that the youth’s voice reflects a demand for accountability rather than a rebellion against the system.

He added that citizens have placed great expectations on current leaders, who must now improve their performance, and that it is time for experienced leaders to pass the baton to the younger generation.
