KATHMANDU: In the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Saturday night, Gujarat Titans secured their first win of the season by defeating Mumbai Indians by 36 runs.

This marks Mumbai’s second consecutive loss in the ongoing tournament.

Mumbai won the toss and opted to field first. Gujarat, batting first, posted a competitive total of 196 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in their 20 overs.

Shubman Gill’s side was powered by Shubman Gill (38 runs), Jos Buttler (39 runs off 24 balls), and the highest scorer of the match, Shai Sudharsan, who made 63 runs off 41 balls with 4 fours and 2 sixes. Sherfane Rutherford contributed an additional 18 runs.

For Mumbai Indians, Hardik Pandya was the standout bowler, claiming 2 wickets for 25 runs in his 4 overs. Trent Boult, Deepak Chahar, Satyanarayana Raju, and Mujeeb Ur Rahman each took one wicket.

Chasing a target of 197 runs, Mumbai could only manage 160 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in their 20 overs. Surya Kumar Yadav was the top scorer for Mumbai with 48 runs, while Tilak Verma added 39 runs. Naman Dheer and Mitchell Santner both contributed 18 runs each.

Captain Hardik Pandya could only manage 11 runs off 17 balls. Rohit Sharma and Ryan Rickelton were dismissed cheaply for 8 and 6 runs, respectively.

For Gujarat, Mohammad Siraj and Prasidh Krishna took 2 wickets each, while Kagiso Rabada and Shai Kishore claimed 1 wicket each.

Looking ahead, Sunday’s IPL action will feature two exciting matches.

Delhi Capitals will take on Sunrisers Hyderabad in the first game, followed by a clash between Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings.
