Gujarat Titans crush Sunrisers Hyderabad by 82 runs to go top of IPL table

KATHMANDU: Gujarat Titans stormed to the top of the IPL points table with a commanding 82-run victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad in Ahmedabad.

Batting first, Gujarat posted 168/5 in their 20 overs after solid contributions from Sai Sudharsan and Washington Sundar.

Sudharsan struck a composed 61 off 44 balls, while Sundar added a valuable 50 from 33 deliveries to anchor the innings.

For Hyderabad, Prasidh Krishna and Saqib Mahmood claimed two wickets each to keep Gujarat from crossing the 170-mark comfortably.

Chasing 169, Hyderabad collapsed under relentless pressure from Gujarat’s pace attack. Kagiso Rabada and Mohammed Siraj ripped through the top order with fiery opening spells, leaving Hyderabad struggling at 34/4 by the end of the powerplay.

The batting lineup never recovered as Hyderabad were bowled out for just 86 in 14.5 overs. Captain Pat Cummins top-scored with 19 runs in a disappointing chase.

For Gujarat, Rabada and Jason Holder picked up three wickets each, while Prasidh Krishna chipped in with two scalps.

With the emphatic win, Gujarat moved to the summit of the IPL standings with 16 points. The result also marked Gujarat’s fourth consecutive victory over Hyderabad in Ahmedabad since 2023.
