KATHMANDU: Gujarat Titans secured a convincing seven-wicket win against the Lucknow Super Giants in the Indian Premier League on Monday.

Batting first, Lucknow posted a modest total of 164 for 8 in their allotted 20 overs.

Aiden Markram top-scored with 30 runs, but the innings struggled to gain momentum under disciplined bowling from Gujarat.

Fast bowler Prasidh Krishna was the standout performer, claiming four crucial wickets to restrict the opposition.

In response, Gujarat chased down the target comfortably in just 18.4 overs, losing only three wickets. Captain Shubman Gill led from the front with a composed 56 off 50 balls, bringing up his half-century in 34 deliveries.

He was well supported by Jos Buttler, who delivered a match-winning unbeaten 60 off 37 balls, including 11 boundaries.

The duo stitched together a decisive 84-run partnership for the second wicket, effectively taking the game away from Lucknow. Washington Sundar added an unbeaten 21 to guide the team home with ease.

Earlier, Mohammed Siraj set the tone with tight bowling in the opening overs, while late breakthroughs further dented Lucknow’s chances.

A brief contest between Mohammed Shami and Gill added intrigue, with Shami conceding just 10 runs in his first two overs before the Gujarat skipper counterattacked to shift momentum.

The victory marks Gujarat’s second consecutive win in the tournament, underlining their strong form as the league intensifies.
