KATHNABDU: The government intends to demolish the illegal colonies on the banks of the Bagmati and Bishnumati rivers.

Finance Minister Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat, while presenting the budget statement for the next fiscal year 2080/81, announced on Monday that the slums would be removed in cooperation with the local level by making alternative arrangements for the real squatters.

Flyovers and underpasses will also be built in Koteshwar, Satdobato, and Ekantakuna. In the coming fiscal year, the Nepalese government plans to complete the construction of 150 bridges on motorways and vital roads.

Similarly, the government has granted the necessary funding for the Suryabinayak Dhulikhel road segment extension.

A total of 127 billion rupees has been made allocated to expedite the road extension and construction of the Kathmandu Chakrapath’s Kalanki Basundhara section.

The government has stated that flyovers and underpasses will be built on the national highway when needed, and that the flyover at Gwarko in Lalitpur will be finished in the following fiscal year.

Similarly, the budget includes funding for the construction of flyovers and underpasses at Koteshwar, Satdobato, and Ekantakuna.
