Govt to appoint full-time Chief Administrative Officers in all local units by end of Ashar
Minister Gupta said the government is working to bring the number of local governments relying on interim officials down to zero before the start of the new fiscal year.
KATHMANDU: Minister of Federal Affairs and General Administration, Rajkumar Gupta, has announced that all local levels currently being run by acting officials will be staffed with full-time Chief Administrative Officers by the end of Ashar.
Speaking at the House of Representatives on Monday, Minister Gupta said the government is working to bring the number of local governments relying on interim officials down to zero before the start of the new fiscal year.
“When I took office, around 350 local levels were operating under acting Chief Administrative Officers. Now, that number has been reduced to 185,” he stated.
According to the minister, 16 officers are set to arrive from the Public Service Commission on Ashar 20, and full deployment is expected by Shrawan.
Minister Gupta also addressed concerns regarding salary increments for government employees, clarifying that due to the nation’s current economic condition, salary increases were not feasible this fiscal year.
He reiterated his commitment to resolving the long-standing issue of Chief Administrative Officers shortages in local bodies, promising a sustainable solution moving forward.
