Govt announces 3-day public holiday for election

KATHMANDU: The government has decided to grant three days of public holiday targeting the House of Representatives elections.

According to government spokesperson and Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal, the Cabinet on Tuesday decided that March 4, 5, and 6 will be observed as public holidays.

Earlier, the Election Commission of Nepal had recommended the government grant holidays around the election period, proposing the same dates.

Voting for the House of Representatives is scheduled for March 5.

With the election holiday, Holi, Saturday, and International Women’s Day falling during this period, government offices and educational institutions are expected to remain closed for nearly a week.
