Governor post confirmed for Congress: Bishwo Paudel’s name finalized
Paudel is considered close to the Congress party.
KATHMANDU: Prof. Dr. Bishwo Paudel, an economist, has been selected as the new Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB).
The ruling parties, Congress and UML, have reached a consensus to appoint Paudel to the post.
During a meeting held today, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba agreed on Paudel’s appointment as Governor.
Paudel is considered close to the Congress party.
Finance Minister Bishnu Paudel has convened a meeting of the Governor Recommendation Committee to officially recommend Prof. Paudel for the position.
The Governor’s position at Nepal Rastra Bank has been vacant since Chaitra 24 (April 6).
In the meantime, Deputy Governor Nilam Dhungana was assigned the responsibilities of Acting Governor by Finance Minister Paudel.
