KATHMANDU: The price of gold in Nepal has been breaking records, reaching historic highs amid a sharp upward trend.

On Monday, gold surged by Rs 5,200 per tola, marking the highest level ever recorded in the country.

According to the Nepal Gold and Silver Traders’ Association, the rate for standard gold coins is currently Rs 309,000 per tola.

This marks an unprecedented peak in Nepal’s gold market.

The recent price increase has been rapid and extraordinary.

On Sunday alone, gold rose by Rs 2,400 per tola to reach Rs 303,800, following a massive Rs 9,200 jump on Friday, when it first crossed the Rs 300,000 mark to settle at Rs 301,400.

Data shows that gold was trading at Rs 292,200 per tola last Thursday, meaning it has gained over Rs 17,000 in just four days.

Silver has also seen significant gains, rising Rs 285 per tola on Monday to Rs 6,765.

On Sunday, silver traded at Rs 6,480 per tola, and on Friday it was Rs 6,190.
